Herdade do Pombal
Herdade do Pombal is located in Estremoz, North Alentejo, where cold rainy winters and severely hot summers with wide temperature variation help the quality and preservation of aroma of the grape. The red grape vines, planted in the 90s, selected to make the best of the local conditions, include Aragonês, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet and Cabernet Sauvignon. Among the whites, there are: Antão Vaz- an indigenous grape variety consensually recognized as the ex-libis of Alentejo white grapes, strongly adapted to severe summers; and Arinto which helps with their inflexible acidity. Our oenologist, Jaime Quendera, is one of the most respected winemakers in Portugal.
