Dobrá Vinice, Créme de Parc National 2017
This is a 15-hectare property nearby the town of Znojmo in South Moravia lead by the head winemaker Petr Nejedlik one of the pioneers of low-intervention winemaking in the Czech Republic. Petr has been a strong believer in organic farming and providing gentle guidance in the cellar to this wines. He is also the first one to have brought in the ancient earthenware Qvevris from Georgia to Czech Republic.
Vineyards are located in the National Park Podyji, which is shared with Austria right across the border. High mineral content in soils lends great finesse and precision to the wines.
Vines are grown in harmony with nature, that is organic farming which involes using sprays with products made from nettles, horsetail, essential oils. Grapes are hand harvested and fermentation is carried out by natural yeast. Fermentation and ageing is carried out in barrels Slavonian, Austrian and Moravian oak. Acacia barrels are used as well, which are more delicate and impart the least flavour.
His wines are considered to have superb consistency and longevity.
A blend of Muller Thurgau and Riesling, there’s good aromatics of exotic fruit, with a base of herbal, grassiness tones. An amazing thirst quenching quality, with good weight, delicate texture, a great accompaniment to food. Dishes with some spice and bigger flavours would really benefit from pairing with this wine.
